Recent Cases: American Arbitration Association awards $1 million for breach of contract. |
In 2005, Ed Dovin and Sandra Malkin represented a company that provided pre-recorded telephone messages for various entities. The message provider entered into a contract with another company in 2004 to provide pre-recorded telephone messages urging voters to get out and vote during the week leading up to the presidential election in November 2004. Unfortunately the contract was breached and the message provider filed an arbitration claim through the American Arbitration Association ("AAA") to enforce the contract. After a hearing in April 2005, the arbitrator selected by AAA awarded the message provider $850,000, plus interest at 1% per month from November 2004 until paid, as well as $100,981.48 in attorneys' fees. |
